100 push ups challenge
67Physical Fitness
America isn’t the most health conscious country in the world. I like to consider my health and fitness as above average, and take pride in that. Occasionally though, I do find myself falling off the ball as I’m sure many of us do. Fortunately, I can always count on my self-induced motivation to kick in when I catch myself slipping.
The Challenge! 100 Push Ups
There’s a reason why the physically fit are so few and far between these days. Exercise isn’t widely known as a good way to have fun. It’s hard, especially for those who don’t regularly work out. Atrophy makes it hard to break lazy habits of a sedentary lifestyle; people don’t like to move much. I do a lot of moving: running, bike riding, and other cardiovascular activities, but recently I’ve been inspired to work more on my strength as opposed to agility. Weight training is a thought, but tends to take a toll on one’s wallet. I’m a busy guy, always moving on the go, I don’t really have time to satisfy a gym membership, and don’t want to purchase weights that I’ll never touch as I’m not home too terribly often. Push ups are ideal for me, you can do them anywhere, and recently a particular concept has been poking at my attention. I want to be capable of doing 100 consecutive push ups. Apparently it is not near as impossible as it seems. In six weeks it is said that anybody can successfully complete 100 consecutive push ups, this is all the motivation I need, I think I’ll actually do this!
Putting Plans to Action
I’ll start by doing a set of push ups, the idea is to do as many as I possibly can as sort of an assessment of my current push up ability. I’m betting I can crank out about thirty-five… pitiful. I work in the moving industry, my strength should be top-notch! 100pushups.com is a cleverly-titled source of instruction for those who are interested in joining me in the 100-push-ups-challenge. I’ll follow their guide in which it is mapped out week by week what your push up schedule should be based on how many you were able to do on your first set. Six weeks is all it takes, and I’ll be powering out 100 consecutive push ups. As I do work in the moving industry, I’m sure I’ll even find some movers to join me. I’ll try to post results as soon as they are available. Wish me luck!
