Popular Suburbs In Dallas, Texas Area Rank High As Best Places To Live
68Recently Money Magazine listed its 100 best small cities in the U.S. Three of the cities listed in the top 25 were suburbs of Dallas, Texas. Suburbia is becoming an increasingly popular place to live, work and play. The property is cheaper causing many corporations to vacate downtown areas to open larger campuses in the burbs. These smaller cities are popular because of its stellar amenities, namely low crime, great schools, plenty activities and jobs. One of the three cities listed made the top five. Ranking in fifth place was the suburb of McKinney, Texas.
McKinney, Texas
In addition to its recent acknowledgement by Money Magazine, Forbes and Best Life Magazine has also recognized this suburb has an area to watch over the next few years. This beautiful city located only 30 miles outside of Dallas has all of the makings of a family town. McKinney is a good mixture of old and new. Residents here enjoy an historic downtown filled with beautiful tree-lined streets, all sorts of unique shops, restaurants and stunning restored homes. Families looking for something a little more modern can take advantage of the many other communities in McKinney equipped with great schools, parks and entertainment for all. McKinney is also bordered by cities known for its suburban draw as well. Frisco, Plano and Allen Texas are neighboring cities that offer similar options. Allen, Texas ranked number 16 out of the 100 best places to live.
Allen, Texas
This growing community is south of McKinney and features some of the same perks, affordable housing, nationally recognized schools, exciting entertainment and low crime. Allen is booming with business. Earlier this year the city opened a new mall, The Villages at Allen and The Villages at Fairview featuring several notable retail establishments and eateries. Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm is another spot in Allen that showcases great boutiques and signature restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Changs and Market Street Grocer. The city is also famous for its outlet Mall, Allen Premium Outlets housing designer outlet stores like J. Crew, Kenneth Cole, Neiman Marcus Clearance Center, Ralph Lauren and more. Business isn’t restricted to retail in Allen, but several organizations conduct business in the area and nearby.
Rowlett, Texas
Rowlett ranked 24 on Money magazine’s list of 100 best cities. This nice community situated on Lake Ray Hubbard is home to a growing number of residents. Pretty much like its counterparts, Rowlett has been numbered among the best cities for its small city charm and close proximity to the Dallas Metroplex. The schools, shopping, dining and low crime are also a big hit with those wanting to raise a family. There is major growth happening in Rowlett. Its connection to SH 78 is bringing more access to the area and more development.

I have lived in Arlington, Texas for most of my life. I am a few miles from the new Cowboys stadium. I think the Dallas-Ft. Worth area is great. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
